ePayment

ePayment is an enterprise level service available at UBC that allows processing of financial transactions and is composed of several main components: ePayment Virtual Terminal, ePayment Web Service, and ePayment Student Financial Account. These components act as the gateways to our payment processor and they are all subject to UBC PCI DSS compliancy. Each component has different technical needs, so please review the following to determine which service you will need to review. All the technical documentation is available once you log in.

ePayment Virtual Terminal

ePayment Virtual Terminal allows authorized merchants to process credit card payments and refunds from a dedicated computer, via a web-based "virtual terminal." This option is particularly suited to merchants who do not have a website, have low volumes and/or those whose transactions are predominantly conducted through fax and mail.

Those dedicated Virtual Terminal machines can be procured from UBC SHHS. Please see the ePayment Virtual Terminal Requirements and PCI DSS requirements before reviewing the Virtual Terminal technical documentation.

ePayment Web Service

ePayment Web Service (WS) provides participating UBC departments with secure, real-time authorization and processing of credit card and/or Interac Online® payments. This is suitable for merchants who have their own website/shopping cart and require electronic/online payment processing.

You will need to integrate ePayment Web Service into the merchants website/shopping cart, aka Merchant Web Service. Communication between ePayment Web Service and Merchant Web Service consists of sending information back and forth using HTTPS POSTs and XML strings. If the Merchant Web Service does not exist yet, it will need to be created. Please see the ePayment Web Service Requirements, and PCI DSS requirements before reviewing the Web Service technical documentation.

ePayment Student Financial Account

ePayment Student Finanical Account consolidates items from several departments across campus, including Enrolment Services (tuition and fees), Undergraduate Admissions, Library, Housing, and Food Services into a detailed account statement for UBC students. It is designed for students and for departments where a student is allowed to run up an account balance as the transactions will be future dated. The items appear online via the Student Service Centre (SSC) under "My Financial Account" and can be paid directly online using Interac® Online, Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) or credit card.

You will need to integrate ePayment Student Financial Account into the merchants system. The merchant system must be able to respond to XML requests sent by ePayment Student Financial Account. If the merchant system does not exist yet, it will need to be created. Please see the ePayment Student Financial Account Requirements, and PCI DSS requirements before reviewing the Student Financial Account technical documentation.
